Cross-Border ServicesCross-Border Services by EEA lawyers
A lawyer who wants to work temporarily across the border in Liechtenstein must inform the Liechtenstein Chamber of Lawyers of that intention. The notice must include the written instruction or, if applicable, power of attorney by the mandator. If representation in already pending proceedings is intended, the notice must include information on the case (file number, parties, brief description of subject matter). Further, the lawyer has to name a local representative for service and is allowed only to act in agreement with a local lawyer. The Chamber of Lawyers will confirm receipt of the message, which must be shown to courts and administrative authorities on request.
Furthermore, proof of the following must be supplied:
- citizenship of a party to the EEA Treaty;
- permit to practise law;
- proof of capability to act and trustworthiness;
- proof of a law firm address in a member state of the European Economic Area (country of origin);
- proof of a liability insurance with a minimum coverage per event of CHF 1,000,000.--, also including legal advice on Liechtenstein law.
